Spend the morning hearing the stories and visiting the sites of the underground railroad in Keeseville and Peru. You will learn about the men and women who traveled on the underground railroad and those who provided safe passage to fugitives from slavery. Tour leaders are members of the North Country Underground Railroad Historical Association. Location: Point Au RocheState Park located at 19 Camp Red Cloud Road in Plattsburgh, N.Y.12901

The Tour De Force Charity was started in 2002 by two N.Y.C. Detectives to raise money for the victims of the September 2001 Terrorists Attacks. The Tour De Force Charity will be sponsoring a Half Marathon, 10k and 5k run.
The Half Marathon will start at 8:00AM, the 10k at 8:15AM and the 5K at 8:30AM. Packet Pick Up will be on Saturday August 22nd at Fleet Feet Sports located at 45 Smithfield Blvd in Plattsburgh N.Y. 12901 between 10:00AM and 5:00PM. Race day registration will be between 6:00AM and 7:15AM at the Point Au RocheState Park. Runners who have pre-registered will also be able to pick up their race packets on that day also. All finishers will receive a finisher’s medal and will be able to attend a party after the race at the Point Au Roche State Park. The cost for all three events will be 45.00 dollars and their will be no refunds. Saturday, July 18 will be the second running of the Saranac Flatwater Challenge as part of the Tupper/Saranac Challenge canoe and kayak race series. The event is a New York Marathon Canoe Racing Association (NYMCRA) Points Race for canoes. Race start will be at 11:00AM. There will be three races all with a $25 entry fee, a 4.5 mile course for recreational paddlers and stand up paddle boarders (SUPS), a 9 mile course for stock boats and a 12.5 mile for amateurs, kayaks, surf skis and C4s.
